Synopsis: It’s a hot summer afternoon. Tension is in the air. A gang of youths on bikes gathers outside a chip shop. A teenage boy is stabbed and left bleeding on the street. The boy’s mother wonders how this could have happened to her son. She is full of questions, but when the answers lie so close to home, are they really what she wants to hear?
Review: I absolutely love these QuickReads books and they are a brilliant way of discovering new authors. The way this book was written really drew you in and it was incredibly easy to picture the characters and the world they live in. The strapline of the book gave me a slightly preconcieved idea as to what would happen and it wasn’t until i got to the last page that i realised that the exact opposite was happening. I enjoyed the writing in this book and will be adding this author to my list of ones to read more of.
I only gave this 3.5/5 because the length of the book didn’t allow for more plot and character development but that is it.
I have her book ‘Mr. Loverman’ but I haven’t read it yet. What other Quickreads books would you recommend?
